Supporting small business and economic development is essential to the success of the Vacaville economy and needs to be a top priority.

Right now, Vacaville is facing a real structural budget deficit, one that has already led to cuts in police and fire resources this year. I don't believe we solve that by cutting our way out of it. We solve it by growing our tax base the right way, attracting both the small businesses that make up the heart of our community and the larger employers who bring real jobs and real revenue with them. That is how we protect the services and quality of life our residents expect, instead of pretending we can shrink our way to a balanced budget.

The city of Vacaville is located between the Bay Area and the Greater Sacramento Valley region. That gives us a real opportunity to become an international hub for bio and life science facilities, a strategic home for businesses looking to serve two major metropolitan centers at once. Regardless if our Biomanufacturing expansion hasn’t fully came to fruition this is exactly the kind of large scale economic opportunity we need to attract, alongside continued support for the small businesses already here.

Growth like this requires keen attention to our city resources, making sure we manage water, sewer, waste, school capacity, and shopping facilities as we grow, not after the fact.

I'll continue to support Shop Local and work hand in hand with our business owners, Visit Vacaville, and Downtown Vacaville, because our small businesses are the backbone of this community and they deserve a partner in City Hall.

As a real estate financial services expert for over 20 years, one thing I've learned in building financial growth and security is that you can't cut your way to prosperity. We need to focus on creating sustainable revenue for our city by maintaining an environment where businesses can invest and thrive, where people want to live, shop, and play. That means public safety also has to remain a priority in our community, because a safe city is what lets business investment happen in the first place.
