Public safety

Public safety is critical to a better quality of life in Vacaville. A continued focus on public safety is key to having a desirable city that can thrive and grow. Our families deserve to feel safe in their homes and in their community. Our local economy, our restaurants, our retail, and our residential real estate all depend on the safety of our streets to prosper.

Since I've been on the City Council, Vacaville has moved in the right direction. We've kept homicides rare, holding at just one in three of the last four years after a brief rise in 2023. Burglaries are down 36 percent and auto theft is down 56 percent since 2022, robbery is down 28 percent, and our overall crime index is at its lowest point in the past eight years. Much of that progress lines up with the launch of our Real Time Information Center in 2024, which gives our officers real time intelligence and drone support in the field. That progress is the work of the men and women of our police and fire departments, and my support for them doesn't depend on anyone's endorsement. It's unwavering.

I will work tirelessly to ensure that all Vacaville citizens feel safe in our community. I will work to foster a community where all residents feel that they are not victimized, targeted, or oppressed. I support our law enforcement and public safety efforts because it is the right thing to do, not because of anyone's politics. We must continuously work with our public safety departments to protect the quality of life the Vacaville community deserves.

A safe city is also what allows the kind of economic growth I've talked about to actually happen. Businesses don't invest, and families don't put down roots, in a city where safety is in question, so protecting public safety funding has to remain a priority as we grow.
